I think he is losing his hearing.

I asked if his hearing was giving him problems and he laughed and said no

My father was always very attentive whenever it came to my mom. All she had to do was mention that she wanted something done, and he did it within a day or two. One time she had said she wanted to build a new bedroom onto the house. She was adamant about having a full suite with a private bathroom and a walk-in closet. My dad came home from work the next day. He told mom that they would deliver the lumber in two weeks and he had the plans for the suite ready. That was several years ago, but her demands are now falling on deaf ears. My dad is always ignoring her, but I think it’s his hearing. Mom told dad that she wanted to radiant heated flooring in the bedroom and bathrooms. Dad told her it sounded nice, but he didn’t jump and have the work done right away. Every day she was finding a way to bring up radiant heated flooring, without sounding like it was a planned conversation. Dad would just sit there and pick up his newspaper and tell her how nice that sounded. I wondered if they didn’t have the money or if he was stalling, but I didn’t say anything. It was kind of funny to watch mom stew over the radiant heating. It was almost a month since mom asked about radiant heating, when I went to talk to dad. I asked if his hearing was giving him problems and he laughed and said no. I then asked why he wasn’t getting mom’s radiant heating. He nodded at me to come closer and said it was ordered. He thought it was more fun to make her wonder.
