For starters, we live in a very well-lit house with large windows, so to minimize overlying on central air conditioning for cooling, we hardly use the HVAC system during the day unless it is absolutely necessary or there’s a sudden weather change prompting us to turn it on.
I remember a time when everyone used to leave home almost at the same time, and the kids would come back home earlier from school. It was routine and normal back then. We spent less on food and bills compared to now. But now, no one hardly leaves the house. The furthest we go as a family is either to the park or shopping. Just like my neighbors and friends, everyone seems to complain about the high energy bills we have become accustomed to. Luckily for us, my husband foresaw this coming and decided to learn more about HVAC best practices. This has helped us become more conscious of how we regulate and use heating and cooling. For starters, we live in a very well-lit house with large windows, so to minimize overlying on central air conditioning for cooling, we hardly use the HVAC system during the day unless it is absolutely necessary or there’s a sudden weather change prompting us to turn it on. My husband has also been keeping up to date with the changes in the HVAC technology and shopping for more modern HVAC products for sale with better seer ratings. Our current system is not even covered with an air conditioner service plan so a change would mean quality air conditioner with reduced visits from an HVAC serviceman or HVAC business that markets their services around. I would like to get an air purifier as well since we don’t use the AC system much but that will depend on how much we spend on the new unit and the eventual HVAC installation. The upside would be little to no HVAC maintenance costs for a while.
