My sister Carol is the only female HVAC technician that I’ve ever met.
I guess that the heating and cooling profession is still one that is really overwhelmingly powered by men.
It will probably always be that way, but it’s just one more reason that I’m proud of my sister Carol. It’s nice to see her becoming so successful in a field that is usually so dominated by men. Whenever Carol graduated from high school about fifteen years ago, she knew that she wasn’t going to do the same types of things that most of her friends were going to do. She didn’t want to be a teacher or an accountant or a designer or anything like that. Instead, she knew that as soon as she graduated from high school, she was going to go to our local technical school to get her heating and cooling certification. She had a plan in place and honestly, she followed it right through to the end. Carol is one of those people who always seems to have a plan to get what she wants and then she follows through and actually does it. I really like that part of her personality, especially since I seem to have missed that part of our genetic code somehow! After she earned her HVAC certification at the technical school, she immediately found a great job at one of our local heating and cooling companies here in town. After working there for a few years, she decided that she wanted to open up her own commercial HVAC company and now that’s what she’s doing for a living!
