It wasn’t exactly a shocker when the HVAC technician suggested that I start seriously planning for the replacement of my HVAC equipment.
This only made sense given the fact that the HVAC equipment was nearly 25 years old.
However, I wasn’t going to do anything until I heard from an expert. Considering that we have never suffered any sort of major breakdown, I just didn’t know how long it would go. I guess the fact that we have experienced such good heating and cooling over all these years is a testament to HVAC maintenance. Each year, I make sure the heating maintenance is done in the fall prior to winter settling in. And then, like a rite of spring, I have the air conditioner tune up done. Our summers are hotter than our winters are cold. So an air conditioner tune up is essential. Now, I’m navigating the HVAC replacement market and it has changed significantly over the years. Honestly, I was quite overwhelmed with the whole thing. There are just so many different models of HVAC equipment online that I really wasn’t sure just what I was looking at. Nor, did I really understand much of the new HVAC technology upgrades. Thankfully, I was able to rely on our HVAC company for help. The first thing they did was to send out the HVAC contractor. He had a look around the house and inspected the ductwork. We’re lucky that it’s in great shape. He suggested a ductwork cleaning to be followed by ductwork sealing. So he set that appointment up for us. Additionally, he helped us settle on a great new HVAC unit and we’re looking forward to having that thing installed.
