When it was time for my husband and I to upgrade our AC system, we did a lot of research about what kind of AC unit we wanted to install.
We ended up selecting one that was energy efficient and known for lasting a long time.
As we were speaking to a salesperson about purchasing the new AC system, my husband said that he was going to install the new AC unit himself. This was a surprise to me, so I tried to convince him to hire an HVAC professional instead. He insisted on doing it himself to save money though. He spent an entire weekend trying to install the new AC unit and we were without AC the entire time. It was miserably hot in our house! When he finally had everything connected, the air began to flow and I felt a little better. However, when we received our first utility bill in the mail after installing the new AC unit, I couldn’t believe how high it was! It was way higher than any of our previous utility bills from our old AC unit! I showed the bill to our husband and told him that something was really wrong. The new AC unit was supposed to be energy efficient and save us money, not drain us. This time, I insisted on hiring an HVAC professional to look over the AC unit that my husband had installed. When the HVAC professional came to our house, he found a bunch of things that had been connected wrong and he even told us that we purchased an AC unit that was too small for our house. We ended up paying more money to hire the HVAC professional to fix the mistakes my husband made.
