I used to have the mindset that I would do every possible thing for myself to avoid hiring professionals at whatever rate they charge.
This is a disappointing idea for a number of reasons, in part because there are plenty of tasks that need to be trusted to a professional of some kind.
You don’t go on Youtube to learn how to do surgery on your leg, that’s why hospitals exist. Nor would most novices attempt to repair their engine if they had never gained instructional advice firsthand from someone with mechanical skills. But it’s straight-forward to get arrogant & overconfident in a single’s abilities if success is achieved more than once. I did a fairly great task painting my home last summer, & this lit a fire under me that had me thinking I could start remodeling the whole home while landscaping the yard in the process. However, my driveway was extremely dirty & no amount of scrubbing with a brush would get rid of the dark stains. I had seen my acquaintance cleaning his driveway with a pressure washer in the past, so I figured it would be straight-forward enough to buy a single & do it myself. I should have called a pressure washing repair or some kind of cleaning supplier, however instead I tried it myself & stupidly wore flip flops while doing it. I wasn’t careful while aiming the pressure washer & I hit my foot, slicing the skin open in the process. I rushed myself to the ER & was feeling lightheaded from the blood loss. This time I called a professional pressure washing repair to wash my driveway & rid it of stains. The next thing I’ll do is call a grout cleaning repair to make my tile floors look like current again.
