A note at the entrance instructed that one remove their shoes at the mudroom before proceeding to the main house.
How could they put up such instructions given that it was so cold? The house had quality HVAC equipment because it was warm and cozy, but they could have at least left house shoes, given that tiles could get very cold even with a fully functional furnace/heater installation.
The minute I stepped on the tiles, they were pleasantly warm, which was a welcome surprise. I could even remove my socks and roam around comfortably. It indicated that the house had hydronic heating installed beneath the tiles. Amazingly, the lengths the HVAC business has gone to ensure indoor comfort on every level. It would be our home for one month. My partner went ahead to check the documentation that indicated when the blast furnace/heater tune-up was done and also the HVAC provider that did it. We did not want to run into a situation where we would have to start looking for an HVAC tech to deal with furnace//heater repair, which we could have otherwise avoided by regular servicing. After checking the rest of the house, we realized that having to call an HVAC repairman would not be necessary since they had a portable space heater in case of any eventuality. The documents also listed a few energy-saving tips we could easily apply during our stay, which I found very pleasant. The house used a furnace for whole home heating. They must have, in recent years, contracted a heating contractor because every quality heating device looked modern, so I was shocked to see a temperature control system looked ancient compared to the rest.
