One of our friends talked myself and others into going ice fishing last weekend.
The guy said the best time of the day to go ice fishing is at night, because the fish are more active.
The people I was with and I waited until dark & then I headed out to the lake. My neighbor already had a locale set up & ready for us, so I did not have to sit around & wait for him to split through the ice. It was severely chilly outside. It was in the single digits & the wind chill was even worse. My hands & our face were freezing & cold. There was no heat at all out there on the ice. I looked around & there were some people in fishing shacks. I could see smoke or steam coming out of the shacks. I knew they were enjoying heat in those locales. Jack & I caught a couple of actually large fish right in the beginning when we first arrived, however we did not have another bite for more than 2 hours. During that time, I was bored & tired. I wanted to go apartment & moderate up in front of the fireplace. That said that I was acting love I was spoiled. When the temperature dropped down to 0° at 3:00 a.m., I told our buddy that I was going to walk back to our truck & go home. He stayed there when I left & I think he fished until the sun came up. It was way too chilly for myself and others to stay out there separate from heat. If we would have had a heated shack, I might have felt differently.
