When the air conditioning system was making a weird noise, I called the HVAC service center to make an appointment.
I did not think it was a good idea to wait until the system broke down entirely. With temperatures regularly in the 90s during the summer, I did not want to take any chances. I contacted the company that installed the HVAC unit. The same company has been handling all of our services for the past 8 years. They are reliable, friendly, and honest about pricing. The salesmen have never tried to sell me some things that I absolutely didn’t need and I appreciate that. I contacted the HVAC provider and I told the person that the system was making a weird noise. Since it was not an emergency, they scheduled an appointment for the next day. The service technician was a young man that seemed to be the same age as my own son. The system evaluation appointment took about 30 minutes. When the appointment was over, I received really bad news from the contractor. The young kid was absolutely certain that the AC and heat pump needed to be replaced. I was devastated by the news. I did not think that we were anywhere near the time when we would have to replace the system. I thanked the young man for the information and I paid the bill for the estimate. I called another company to get a second estimate before I spent all of that money on a brand new heat pump and AC unit.
