I thought I was going deaf last week.
My nice friend and I had a new Heating & Air Conditioning specialist come to the house.
I could not understand a word he was saying. I asked him to slow down, despite the fact that he kept talking. I wanted to scream at him & tell him I wasn’t understanding him, despite the fact that he just looked at me. I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle this, because eventually he would lay down with me & tell me what he had found in the air conditioning unit. He was outside working on the air conditioning unit, when I noticed something odd. He had what looked like earphones in, but I could not tell if he was listening to rock n roll. I went out to say something to him, despite the fact that he didn’t hear the door. When I tapped him on the shoulder, he was startled. I realized they weren’t ear iphones, however they were hearing aides. He could not talk because he was deaf. I gave him iced tea, & he watched my lips when I talked. When the Heating & Air Conditioning specialist came into the property to discuss the AC unit, he apologized for earlier. He told me he was deaf & hadn’t changed his batteries that morning. His partner was going to drop the batteries off at the Heating & Air Conditioning companies & he would option them up on the way home. I smiled, not caring about the batteries. I felt like I was going deaf when I could not understand what he was saying. My husband was forever telling me how I didn’t listen & I should turn up my hearing aides. I don’t have hearing aides.
