I thought I was going deaf last week.
My nice friend and I had a current Heating plus A/C worker come to the house.
I couldn’t understand a word she was saying. I asked him to slow down, but she kept talking. I wanted to scream at him and tell him I wasn’t understanding him, but she just looked at me. I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle this, because eventually she would lay down with me and tell me what she had found in the a/c unit. She was outside working on the a/c unit, when I noticed something odd. She had what looked like earphones in, even though I couldn’t tell if she was listening to tunes. I went out to say something to him, but she didn’t hear the door. When I tapped him on the shoulder, she was startled. I realized they weren’t ear phones, but they were hearing aides. She couldn’t talk because she was deaf. I offered him iced tea, and she watched my lips when I talked. When the Heating plus A/C worker came into the house to discuss the A/C unit, she apologized for earlier. She told me she was deaf and hadn’t changed her batteries that day. Her spouse was going to drop the batteries off at the Heating plus A/C companies and she would option them up on the way home. I smiled, not caring about the batteries. I felt like I was going deaf when I couldn’t understand what she was saying. My partner was forever telling me how I didn’t listen and I should turn up my hearing aides. I don’t have hearing aides.
