Sometimes it’s better just to be honest with people even if it’s going to hurt their feelings! This is what I realized the other morning when I accidentally caused a major fight between me and our bestie. I was only trying to protect his sensitive emotions although I guess that I made things much worse in our efforts to be considerate, you see, our bestie had been talking about going to a film for the past 6 months that I had no interest in, then he was watching the trailers obsessively and continuously talking about his hopes for the new production, then on the morning that it was released, I did not want to attend the film with him. That’s when I lied and told him that our heating and cooling system had broken down unexpectedly at our house. I did our best to feign complete exasperation over the broken cooling system component and our need for a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation specialist. I even went so far as to talk about what a financial burden it was going to be for the emergency service service that morning. I told him I was sad that there might be something majorly wrong with our cooling system component and I would have to pay for costly substitutement parts and hourly Heating and A/C worker fees. About half an hour after the people I was with and I got off the iPhone, the jig was up, but my bestie particularly chose our Heating and A/C emergency over his film release and came over to our apartment to wait for the Heating and A/C worker with me, but now I got a lot of ‘splaining to do.
