The little touches make a big difference

When moving into my house I had big plans on all the updates I wanted to make. Then when I price checked the updates, I changed my mind. I didn’t want to spend all my money on new flooring when the existing carpet technically is in good shape. I didn’t have the cash to fully gut my bathrooms and kitchen. I realized that I needed to make small, inexpensive changes to make the house more modern. Really a fresh coat of paint does quite a bit. Each room of the house is now a different shade of blue and I love it. Another update was changing the plastic switch plates to silver ones. I changed all the kitchen cabinets and bathroom handles and knobs to silver ones as well. All the wood cupboards and bifold doors were sanded, given new knobs and painted. The HVAC bifold I added white mesh to the bottom of it and made the top solid. It was sanded, mudded and painted to match the rest of the hallway. My HVAC equipment door now looks like it leads to something way better. The house really looks way different with just those little touches. I did one last step and changed the vent covers leading to the HVAC unit. The house came with these gross white plastic ones that looked extremely cheap. I found brushed nickel vent covers that match my knobs, switch plates and light fixtures. The heating and cooling vents now tie in and really makes the room look classier. They pop against the white ceiling in a good way.
