Grandma and grandpa were coming over. Mom loved them so much since they’ve always been there for us. Despite other inlaws having a strained relationship with their son’s wife, my mom had the best experience. After the army deployed dad, his mom came to live with us for some time since mom had just given birth. We had the best time ever, and they always spoke like they were best friends. Dad stayed away for two years, and all that time, our grandparents were instrumental in our well-being. Finally, dad came back, and we planned to have holiday celebrations in our home with all our grandparents. According to dad, mom was working hard to make sure all the guest rooms were ready and we had enough food to feed an arm. I knew she wanted them to have the best experience and tried to help in any way I could. About a month before they came, mom spoke to dad about the furnace. We’d been using it for some time to keep the space warm. But dad hadn’t called the HVAC expert to service the system before winter. So, mom insisted the unit had to be serviced before our grandparents arrived. Dad didn’t hesitate and called the HVAC service company that day to book an appointment. He explained that we were lucky to call him since it seemed the unit would’ve stopped working at some point during the season. It was better to get the unit serviced during winter than not at all.
