HVAC and indoor air impact our health

The pandemic was a real wake up call for me and the way I was treating my body. The simple fact was that something like this virus could have been really bad for a person like me had I caught it. This was due to the fact that I was in my mid 50’s, fat, out of shape and doing nothing but working and then sitting at home in the air conditioning. So when all of that started in spring of 2020, I was compelled to change my ways. Thankfully, I didn’t get sick and am now in much, much better shape than I was. It started by getting myself up and out of the heating and cooling comfort of my house. Just going for a walk a couple of times a day really made a tremendous difference in the way I felt. The more I did physically, the more motivated I was to change diet, rest habits and other contributing factors. A big change for my health came from the HVAC equipment believe it or not. I learned just how essential quality indoor air is to our respiratory health as well as our overall health. The first change came in the summer of 2020 when I replaced the cheap HVAC air filters with a HEPA filter. The HEPA filter was a major upgrade toward quality indoor air. The HEPA filter traps and removes more than 99 percent of airborne contaminants. The next step that I’m planning on in the new year is to have the HVAC company install a whole house air purification system. This rids the air of hazards as it actually destroys them with UV light inside the HVAC equipment.
