Looking back on the summer comes with HVAC highlights

This past summer we really incorporated a more overall strategy to HVAC utility savings

This past summer was a whole lot better than the summer before. The summer of 2020 was a struggle no doubt. We were all dealing with the realities of the pandemic. And I was no stranger to all of that. The offices with the zone controlled HVAC were closed and I was trying to figure out how to work remotely from home. We had a full house as the kids were out of school and my husband was working from home as well. It was a real challenge not to just lose my mind each day. We took a financial hit to keep our jobs in 2020. So that summer we, for the first time, tried to save money on the HVAC costs. Where we live, there really aren’t many costs involved with HVAC heating. The heat pump only comes on occasionally so there really isn’t much to the heating utilities. That is so the opposite of what happens during the summer. The air conditioning is on much of the day by April in this part of the country. So summer comes with a ton of HVAC cooling. In 2020 we tried to keep the thermostat as high as we could stand during the peak heating hours and we saved some money. But it was this past summer that we really hit our stride when it came to saving on HVAC cooling costs. This past summer we really incorporated a more overall strategy to HVAC utility savings. Sealing up the house and making sure there was no direct sunlight heating were additions to our thermostat settings. And looking back on it now, we really saved some money in the summer of 2021.
