Signing up for group fitness classes

While some of the classes are better than others, I get some benefit out of each one.

Although I understand the importance of regular, physical activity, I tend to procrastinate. I’ll have big plans to go for a ten-mile run in the morning and then wake up and decide against it. I’ll use the weather or lack of sufficient time as an excuse. I signed up for a gym membership hoping that paying for the fees would motivate me to make the effort. I still found ways to get out of it. Once I arrive at the gym, I really enjoy my time there. I feel good about the accomplishment. After a workout, I always have more energy and benefit from a better mood. Getting started is the hard part for me. I’ve found that group fitness classes are the perfect solution. Signing up for a class holds me accountable. I know that the instructor and the rest of the class is counting on me to show up. I feel obligated. I’ve signed up for every fitness class that accommodates my work schedule. I’m currently taking pilates, yoga and spin. A HIIT class and strength training class start next month. I like trying new things and getting to know the people in the class. I’ve seen an improvement in my stamina, strength and flexibility. While some of the classes are better than others, I get some benefit out of each one. I’m also more likely to hang around at the gym after class. As long as I’m there, I take advantage of the variety of equipment and amenities. I use the treadmill, elliptical, steam room and hot tub.
