I woke up yesterday and I was very uncomfortable.
I knew there was a problem with the air conditioner.
I never wake up uncomfortable and I immediately got up and put on a pair of pants and a shirt. I walked out into the living room to look at the thermostat. It was still set to 73°, but the temperature seemed to be much warmer than that. This apartment has a dial thermostat, so I don’t have any idea how warm or cold it actually is in the house. The only thing I know is what the thermostat is set to. I had a set for 76 degrees and it easily felt like it was 90. It was actually colder outside. I opened the front door for a little while and then I contacted an AC repair service. I contacted the preferred provider that usually works on my equipment. They know the system very well and can troubleshoot the problem over the phone. I told the guys exactly what was happening with the AC unit. The company sent a technician to look at the air conditioner. The problem turned out to be a simple fix and no big deal at all. I thought there was a huge problem, but the real issue was the thermostat. The thermostat had to be replaced with something that was newer. The repair technician told me that the date on the back of the thermostat was 1987. It was probably original to the building. We both laughed about the old temperature control dial.
