My boss Ed is a lot more than just my employer, he is my mentor and my friend.
He is also my sponsor for AA, so the man wears a lot of hats in my life! Without Ed I don’t know where I would be right now, but I think I would probably be in jail, or dead.
I used to drink a lot. Even when I first started working here I was an alcoholic, but I had it under control. My first few months on the job saw my drinking get a lot worse, and that is when Ed stepped in. He has been in AA for a decade. He told me that I was a great HVAC tech, but if I wanted to keep this job I had to get treatment for my drinking problem. With his help I was able to adjust my work schedule at the HVAC company to allow myself time to go to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. I tried to go to three meetings a week, but more than anything I kept my focus on my work. Since Ed was taking such good care of me I wanted to make his HVAC company even better than before. I wanted him to be proud of me. I focused on my HVAC work, even watching videos about new products on weekends to try and get ahead of the curve. I started to focus on learning about ductwork installation, and bring a new speciality to Ed’s business. To pay him back for all he’s done, I want to make his HVAC company bigger than ever.
