The central air failed at the last minute

We had been preparing for the big game for weeks.

Every month of the college basketball season is pressing, but this was going to be the most crucial game of the year. It would determine who had the bragging rights in the intercollegiate rivalry that dates back fifty years. Everything was set up, we had pizza, beer, and wings. Some brought bottles of vodka with them to make cocktails, and others brought little tote of high octane cannabis to smoke at halftime. Just when it seemed like everything was perfect, the central air system failed. One moment there is crisp, cool air conditioning blasting from the air vents in the residing room, and the next moment we all heard a clattering sound from down the hallway. The main Heating, Ventilation & A/C units are kept in the hallway closet, and one quick glance told us that they had stopped working. The temps in the dorm slowly started rising. However, we were all too focused on the game to care. Finally the coach called a time out, so we used those minutes to call the local Heating, Ventilation & A/C repair repair and beg them to send someone out. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C tech arrived halfway, and didn’t seem to mind that we were all drinking cocktails and smoking weed. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C tech was a youngish lady, and we could tell she was tempted but said she didn’t want to get in trouble with her boss. Before halftime was over, our central air was toiling again, so we left the tech a great review on Yelp.
