When clients need heating maintenance after hours it will cost more, plus if they want help on a major holiday, it will cost A LOT more.
I have four young children, and one more on the way, so you suppose that Christmas morning is a big deal around our house. However, this also presents an issue for me. For the last 6 years I have needed to labor on Christmas Eve plus Christmas Day. I don’t want to ruin Christmas by not being with our wife and kids, but on the other hand these emergency repairs come with big pay so I can’t afford to turn them down. The only reason I can afford to have a nice Christmas for our 4 kids is by toiling these extra jobs. The corporation I labor for has a 24 hour emergency Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C line, so that people can call us 24/7 for help. When clients need heating maintenance after hours it will cost more, plus if they want help on a major holiday, it will cost A LOT more. Taking a oil furnace maintenance job on Christmas will spend our savings at double our normal rate, so you understand why I have to take the call, then last Christmas morning I received an emergency oil furnace maintenance call, plus our oldest son Jack asked if he could come along with me. He wanted to spend the holiday with his dad, even if that meant being in a dingy basement plus toiling on a broken heater! Not only did I take him with me, although I gave him a respected shirt plus a baseball cap with the logo of the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C corporation on it, to make him look like a real employee. It took us about several hours to fix that oil furnace, plus I will admit it has become one of our number one Christmas memories.
