I thought I was going deaf last week.
- My wonderful friend and I had a modern Heating and Air Conditioning specialist come to the house.
I could not understand a word he was saying. I asked him to slow down, although he kept talking. I wanted to scream at him and tell him I wasn’t understanding him, although he just looked at me. I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle this, because eventually he would sit down with me and tell me what he had found in the air conditioning unit. He was outside working on the air conditioning unit, when I observed something odd. He had what looked like earphones in, even though I could not tell if he was listening to songs. I went out to say something to him, although he didn’t hear the door. When I tapped him on the shoulder, he was startled. I realized they weren’t ear cellphones, however they were hearing aides. He could not talk because he was deaf. I provided him iced tea, and he watched my lips when I talked. When the Heating and Air Conditioning specialist came into the dwelling to discuss the AC unit, he apologized for earlier. He told me he was deaf and hadn’t changed his batteries that day. His wife was going to drop the batteries off at the Heating and Air Conditioning companies and he would option them up on the way home. I smiled, not caring about the batteries. I felt like I was going deaf when I could not understand what he was saying. My hubby was forever telling me how I didn’t listen and I should turn up my hearing aides. I don’t have hearing aides.
