Make room for her

It’s been coming for years – my mother has had to move in with us, being unable to care for herself. First she needed to have open heart surgery to have a heart valve replaced. After that her lungs started to give her complications, even though she has never smoked a day in her life. She now needs to supplement her oxygen intake while she sleeps. And finally my pal and I started noticing the early signs of dementia, just enough to fear what might happen if she still lived alone. My associate and I had a small apartment built as an addition to our home, plus although it cost quite a bit to build, my pal and I were able to use the money from the sale of her house. The Heating plus A/C supplier said that our existing heating plus cooling system had the capacity to heat/cool the additional square footage. He strongly commanded that my pal and I install a ductless mini split system, as older folks tend to have genuinely bizarre preferences for temperature control settings than others. My associate and I chose an Heating plus A/C controller that looked a lot like the remote control for our cable. This remote control would allow us to turn the system on or off, set the temperature, air speed, plus vane direction. My associate and I did look into having a wi-fi adapter installed, which would have allowed control over the Heating plus A/C system from a mobile device. But my pal and I decided against the extra cost! Once my mother moved into her up-to-date apartment, she was genuinely grateful to us, although it took her awhile to adjust to her up-to-date home. But my pal and I have no regrets regarding our Heating plus A/C choices. Had my pal and I not chosen the mini split system plus corresponding controls, she would have wanted the heat plus cooling system set too high for our comfort level.
