Old classic gets an HVAC upgrade that fits

Buying a house that was built a hundred years ago is a trip.

  • And the fact that this house has never truly been renovated or modernized is another trip.

We found this gem completely boarded up and sitting empty as it had for several decades. Prior to that though, it was a once very proud example of beautiful design and craftsmanship. When this house was designed and built, there was no such thing as residential HVAC, microwaves or the internet. This place was designed to be grand in a much simpler time. My wife and I knew that if we owned it, we’d want to take it back to it’s original design and grandeur. That would take time, effort and money. But we got the place for a song once it was determined that it was a structural wonder. So we had money for the renovation budget. But how to bring back it’s original glory and still enjoy modern stuff like quality heating and air? This was the real puzzle and one that we were able to address one step at a time. To start, we stripped all the sort of ad hoc heating and cooling equipment from the house. We weren’t going with any ductwork as that didn’t fit the design. So the HVAC contractor came up with the best ductless multi split system. These ductless heat pumps simply blend right into the original design while offering outstanding heating and cooling comfort. It’s been a labor of love and now, the house is complete and we are just so utterly happy with the results. But having the ductless heat pumps was such a major win for us.
