I never really wanted to be a banker, but my parents really seemed to want me to for some reason.
I actually really wanted to go to our local technical school so that I could become an HVAC technician.
I thought about doing that for a long time, and some of my buddies back in high school were planning on doing the same thing. I really wanted to go along and do the same thing with them and possibly open up an HVAC business with them later on, but my parents actually foiled those plans. They just could not get over the fact that they wanted me to become a banker and follow in my father’s footsteps. They could not understand that I just wasn’t built the same way that he was and that I needed to be doing something different with my life. I hate working inside all the time, and I would really rather be doing something with my hands if at all possible. Going to college I worked at that job for about 10 years, until I finally just got sick of it. I recently went back to technical school and I got my heating and cooling certification so that I could finally become an HVAC technician. Now, I am living the dream and I am doing exactly what I always wanted to do. I love working as an HVAC technician here in town and it’s really fun to be doing something that involves working with my hands and driving around to different places all day. It certainly beats being stuck behind a desk all day, that’s for sure.
