I went to visit my mother this past year, plus I could not actually believe how freezing it was.
She lived less than a mile from me plus she didn’t tell me her gas furnace was not even working.
I asked her when the gas heating device had gone out plus she shrugged. She said it was a couple of days, or maybe a week. She had plenty of jackets to keep her warm. It wasn’t yet freezing enough to cause pipes to freeze, however it was freezing enough to cause hypothermia if she wasn’t moderate enough… Mother was in her late seventies plus had dementia. I knew she would soon need supervision, however I didn’t realize it was this soon. I called the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C device company to have the gas furnace repaired, plus then I called my wife. I told her what was happening plus asked if my mother had said something to her about the gas furnace. When she said she had been there a couple of days earlier, plus the gas heating device was laboring, I relaxed a little. We talked about moving her into our household, however mother said no. She didn’t want to leave her household regardless of what I said. I asked if she would have a live-in companion, her response was that they could not touch the temperature control device or come into her room. I took that as a yes! By the following Sunday, I had her gas heating device repaired plus there was a local lady who lived alone, plus she will transfer in with my mother plus keep her company. It surprised me how well they got along, plus whenever there was a problem with the heating, I got a call from mom’s companion.
