We have been able to open our windows this winter.

I was talking to my sister on the phone the other day and she mentioned to me that she can’t wait until she can turn off her heat and open her house up again and get some fresh spring air.

My sister lives in the north and they have their heat on by Halloween.

I pity her sometimes. I sure don’t miss the cold northern winters or the high heating bills. It costs more to heat our home up there for three months than it costs to run our air conditioning all year here. We live in a tropical area now and I have been able to open up my house for a good part of this month. In fact, quite recently, I ran the air conditioning and heating on the same day. It was almost 75 degrees when I woke up that morning and I knew it was going to be a hot and humid day.The air conditioning was already on. It’s the middle of winter and it still reaches 85 degrees on some days. That’s not really too uncomfortably warm, but with our humidity, you really need the air conditioning on warm days like those. Around dinner time the other day, a storm moved through and the temperature dropped into the 50s. We ended up turning off the air conditioning and turning on the heat that night. The storm brought in a cool front and the following days were comfortable enough to keep the windows open most of the time, but I didn’t tell my sister that.
