Saving on air conditioning costs this summer is essential

I don’t know about you but my household is still trying to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.

  • Thankfully, we all made it to where we could get vaccinated and none of us had to deal with the virus.

But the financial strain is still ongoing as we are trying to get back to normal. That said, it has never been more important to save on the air conditioning costs than it is this summer. Like every other summer in our region, the heat is banging away near triple digits. This is just part of the deal when you live where we do. However, my efforts at mitigating HVAC cooling costs in the past have not been very effective. That’s because I never really committed to a savings plan. So this year, I started out by getting the air conditioner tune up so we would be getting the most efficient HVAC cooling. Then I replaced all the weather stripping around doors, windows and sliders. Finally, I made sure there were no gaps or cracks that weren’t filled in. But it was the HVAC thermostat that was the key. We learned how to program it so the thermostat setting rises as the heat does outside. So far, I’m very pleased with the savings. We are saving right at 20 percent on the HVAC cooling costs thus far. And this is making a big difference when it comes to repairing a ravaged household budget. Plus, it’s not like we are going without plenty of air conditioning. It’s just that we aren’t wasting all the HVAC cooling any longer. Simply using our heads with the thermostat and preparing the house has made all the difference we needed.
